PHASE 1 - LEARN & DISCOVER
Weeks 1–4
See businesses differently. Learn the tools. Prepare to help.
Before students begin designing or creating, they learn something more fundamental: how to understand a problem before trying to solve it.
WEEK 1
Entrepreneurship & Business Diagnosis
Students begin by exploring what entrepreneurship means and why small businesses matter to the communities and economies around them.
They learn to look at familiar local businesses with fresh eyes:
Who are their customers?
How do new customers discover them?
How do they currently communicate?
What appears to work well? What is the challenge they face?
Where might there be an opportunity to help?
Students are introduced to the GenRise Business Health Check — five simple questions designed to help them understand a business before offering solutions.
Students create:
Community Business Map + Business Health Checks for five real local businesses
WEEK 2
Introduction to Generative AI
Students are introduced to Generative AI in accessible language, beginning in Hindi where helpful.
Through hands-on exercises using ChatGPT and Google Gemini, students explore how AI can help generate ideas, write content, conduct research and solve practical problems using businesses identified in Week 1.
Just as importantly, they learn what AI cannot reliably do.
Students explore:
AI mistakes and hallucinations
the importance of checking information
human judgement
responsible use
why content created for a real business must always be truthful
Students create:
AI Skills Portfolio #1 — prompts developed for real local businesses
WEEK 3
Know the Customer & the Competition
Good marketing begins with understanding who you are trying to reach.
Students learn how to create simple customer personas and compare businesses based on visibility, communication and digital presence.
They begin asking:
Who actually buys from this business — and why?
Students compare two local businesses and consider what each could learn from the other.
The focus shifts from “What can AI make?” to:
“What does this business actually need?”
Students create:
Customer Insights Report + Competition Map for two real local businesses
WEEK 4
Prompt Engineering — Audience-Led
Students learn how to communicate effectively with AI using the GenRise four-part prompt framework:
ROLE → TASK → CONTEXT → FORMAT
They discover how audience changes everything.
A message written for the customer of a vegetable seller should sound different from one written for parents considering a tuition centre.
Students follow a simple refinement process:
WRITE → TEST → REVIEW → IMPROVE → TEST AGAIN
The strongest prompts are contributed to a shared class resource so students learn from one another.
Students create:
GenRise Prompt Library — 15+ tested prompts across three local business types
